ARCHITECTURE
The aesthetics of the Highland Gate architecture are an interpretation of the look that has become synonymous with Dullstroom, with extensive use of natural material such as wood and stone. Defined architectural elements have been used to distinguish between the three village types in the estate, i.e., ‘Golf’, ‘Fishing’ or ‘Country’, to create a sense of identity in each village, while maintaining the architectural style of the estate as a whole.
HOUSE DESIGN CHOICE
There are six
standard house designs for Highland Gate, and these are:
Cabin – single storey, two bedrooms
Cottage – single storey, two bedrooms, expanded
living area
Bungalow – single storey, three bedrooms
Chalet – double storey, four bedrooms
Manor – double storey, five bedrooms
Lodge – double storey, five bedrooms, expanded living area.
Each of the designs incorporates the basic features we believe are essential elements of a second home in the Dullstroom:
• All bedrooms
are en-suite, with bathrooms incorporating both a shower and bath.
• Where possible, living areas in all houses are double volume and integrated to
create a free flow of space required in a second home environment.
• All bedrooms and living rooms are provided with fireplaces.
• Finishes, fittings and standard appliances are of a high quality.
• Generous storage space is provided.
• Large patio areas are incorporated in each design, with stackable folding
doors to allow the free flow of space between the interior and exterior of the
home.
• Windows and patio doors are sized to take advantage of the vistas that will be
available from most stands.
• Sculleries and pantries separate from the kitchen areas are provided in all
homes to allow for the integration of food preparation activities into the
living areas.
In defining each of the standard house designs, Gate Developments has attempted
to incorporate both the Model T Ford (any colour provided it’s black) and the
Bentley (nothing is standard) approach. While the design and specification of
each of the standard house designs is completely uniform, any interior aspect of
any design can be changed, subject to the stand owner being willing to accept
the variation costs. In addition, if none of the standard designs are
acceptable, stand owners may elect to have a house uniquely designed to meet
their specific requirements.
ADDITIONAL OPTIONS
When selecting a specific house design, the landowner can also select following additional extra-cost options: splash pool, gas fires, under-floor heating, solarium, gas cooker, enclosed garages, additional carports or garages.
