GOLF COURSE DESCRIPTION

The Highland Gate golf course will be unlike any other course in South Africa, offering a technically superior golfing experience amidst some of the most spectacular scenery in the country. A combination of native grasses in out-of-play areas and a fescue blend in the maintained areas will be used to provide an emerald green playing surface all year round. The winter contrast between the green of the playing surface and the brown of the highveld grasses in the surrounding areas will be particularly dramatic.

The character of the two nines of the course will be very different, with the 1st nine mainly situated on the upper plateau of the estate, winding through the villages and providing views of the Steenkampsberg escarpment. The 2nd nine will have large elevation changes, with the course making its way into and out of the Kareekraal river valley that bisects the property.

1st Nine

1	4	416	A challenging uphill hole with bunkers to the right. Carrying bunkers right will allow player to view the green. Green is bunkered left and back right.
2	4	333	This short four on the front nine plays downhill. This hole offers many options off the tee. Smart play is to lie up between the bunkers; the longer hitter may decide to go for the green, which is nestled against a rock-strewn koppie.
3	3	164	A very picturesque par three bridging two rock-strewn koppies with mountain vistas in the background and the Kareekraal river valley dropping off to the left.
4	4	452	This is a magnificent hole playing downhill with the Kareekraal river valley on the left and breath-taking escarpment cliff views as a backdrop to the green. This is the longest hole on the front nine but due the elevation change will play shorter. This hole plays right to left with cross bunkering on the left side of the fairway. The green is bunkered right with a grass hollow left.
5	5	538	The tee shot plays uphill with bunkers on the left.. Many of the longer hitters will try to reach the green in two, carrying bunkers left will allow the ball to feed into the green.
6	4	400	One of the wider fairways on the course with bunkers strategically placed. Carefully placing your drive down the left side of the fairway will view opening of green. Green is bunkered right and left.
7	3	157	The shortest par three on the course. Bunkers surround the green making the hole is trickier than it looks.
8	5	510	The shortest of the par fives, carrying bunkers right will allow the player to reach the green in two. The green is bunkered left with a deep grass hollow left. A great birdie opportunity.
9	4	389	The tee shot is played downhill towards the clubhouse with a large bunker left. Water is also left but should not come in play unless there is an errant shot. The ball will feed into the green from right to left.

10	4	423	A challenging par four playing uphill from the clubhouse. The hole will play longer due to elevation change. The tee shot has bunkers right and left, an undulating green with a grass hollow right.
11	5	575	A big par five playing downhill with cross bunkering in the landing area. The perfect tee shot may allow the golfer to get home in two. The green is supported by the hill behind and bunkered front and right..
12	4	328	The short four on the back nine due its length and elevation. Longer players will try to drive the green but many will find the steam right of the green. A fun hole to play! .
13	3	193	The longest par three on the course. The hole sits in the valley floor with a stream meandering along the left side of the hole. Absolutely beautiful!
14	5	566	A natural golf hole also in the valley floor with the stream flowing down the right side. The hole features the stream as it's strategy with no bunkering. The hole will be one of the course favorites.
15	3	179	The most uphill of the par threes over a dramatic Kareekrall river valley floor into the hillside above. The hole will play longer then it looks..
16	4	377	The most spectacular tee shot on the golf course over a deep gorge to the right. The green is situated on a bluff, with bunkers right and left. A fun hole to play!
17	3	164	This par three plays from right to left with a collection bunker right. The green is long and narrow with views of the gorge right.
18	5	551	An exciting finishing hole! The tee shot has bunkers left and a grass hollow right. The second shot is protected with water left of the landing area. The green sits right to left with bunkering on both sides. A great finishing hole to complete the round!

TROUT FISHING

The two new large dams and the Valleispruit river are to be utilised to provide trout fishing facilities on the estate. In addition to the existing weirs in the river, additional more weirs are to be constructed and the watercourses cleared of alien vegetation to enhance the fishing experience.

WELLNESS CENTRE

The Wellness Centre will provide residents and visitors with access to variety of world class treatment facilities, as well as gym and squash facilities.

A heated pool will be attached to the centre.

EQUESTRIAN CENTRE

The equestrian centre will stable estate and residents' horses. A system of bridal paths will provide riders with access to the undeveloped portions of the estate.

ECO - TRAILS

A network of eco-trail that take advantage of the natural beauty of the estate will be constructed for walking, mountain-biking and horse riding use.

SERVICES AND SECURITY

A 2.4m wall is to be constructed on the Kruisfontein road boundary from the south western corner of the property to the entrance. The remainder of the Kruisfontein boundary will be secured by a palisade fence. All other accessible boundaries will be secured by a security fence.

Access to the property will be controlled and monitored through a state-of-the-art electronic system and all access and boundaries of the estate will be patrolled by security personnel. Homeowners may elect to install security systems in their homes, which will be linked to a central response facility.
