Cape Vidal Coastal Forest Beach Resort -
South
Africa |
|

|
Situated on the East Coast of South Africa in Northern Kwa-Zulu Natal, north of St Lucia and Perriers Rock is Cape Vidal. The area is characterised by tall primary dunes covered in thick forest with spectacular sea views. Inland lie coastal plains, wetlands and the scenic lakes of Bhangazi and St Lucia (St Lucia being proclaimed in 2000 as a World Heritage Site). This stretch of dramatic, undeveloped coastline includes secluded bays, pristine sandy beaches and the southernmost coral reefs in the world. Cape Vidal comprises one of the largest development nodes within the Greater St Lucia Wetlands Park (GSLWP).
The area identified for development is characterised by relatively calm seas due to the wave breaking action of the offshore reefs, and has inland coastal plains, scenic lakes, primary dune cover, coastal forest protection, boat launch zone, snorkelling rocky shelf and nearby coral reefs. The development area is allocated to an upmarket 200-bed lodge or boutique hotel, and 300-bed medium to upmarket chalet resort complex with campsite. The site is an existing resort (with assets) operated by the KZN-Wildlife Authority.
