The recently built Maguga Dam is located in the well established tourism area of Piggs Peak in the mountainous western Swaziland, an area containing a number of Swaziland's notorious nature reserves and game parks, which host among other things, the Big Five, rare species of cycad forests, early stone age tool & drawing sites and a refuge for certain endangered species.
Piggs Peak is famous for its panoramic
mountain views, bubbling clear streams and "country" ambience. The area is just one hours scenic drive from the city of Mbabane and has access to the major borders linking Mpumalanga, Durban and Johannesburg. This "new" area (development of the dam) is ideally suited for country style lodge development and with the magnificent lake and mountain views will certainly become an instant attraction. The brief is to develop an upmarket country style lodge that would cater for the discerning Eco-tourist, conference market and associated clientele.
